The Christmas holidays last just about four weeks on average. As soon as Christmas is over, it’s time to pack up.

Pre-lit trees must be stored correctly if you want them to remain attractive and fresh for longer periods. If trees and decorations are not stored properly, they may become damaged. And your next vacation would be a challenge if you had to pay for another one.

Following are five practical tips to keep your pre-lit Christmas tree looking its best for as long as possible:

1. Warranty

When you buy an artificial tree, you should make sure that it is covered by a warranty. We can tell a lot about the material quality and lifespan of a tree by the warranty attached to it. A variety of companies offer tree warranties ranging from three to five years, but we recommend that you get a warranty that lasts for much longer, usually seven to ten years.

2. Check for burnouts

Be sure that pre-lit trees are lit and decorated properly. Once you find some burnouts, you can quickly replace them before the next Christmas period. LED lights are generally more likely to last longer because they burn out less often.

3. Dismantle

Artificial trees usually have three different parts. Your tree should be stored flat, not stacked. Take it apart from top to bottom if you wish to disassemble it. Ensure that each section is unplugged gently to prevent damage.

After dismantling, fold up the tree’s branches in a safe manner.

4. Keep it out of the box!

A common mistake is to store artificial trees in their boxes. You may want to consider a safer option, like a storage bag, since the tree will be there for 11 months and a few weeks.

5. A great storage location

Maintain a clean, dry, and cool environment for your tree. Don’t store them in areas where they’ll be damaged by pests, sunlight, moisture, and uncontrolled conditions.

Basements or closets are good places to store items.
